Jimi Hendrix (Seattle, 27 de noviembre de 1942 - Londres, 18 de septiembre de 1970), músico estadounidense, considerado uno de los más grandes guitarristas de rock de todos los tiempos.

All along the watchtower es un tema original de Bob Dylan, escrito a finales de los años '60 y tiene múltiples versiones; sin embargo, la de Hendrix es espectacular, tanto que el mismo Dylan comenzó a tocarla con su estilo.
Fue grabada junto a Mitch Mitchell en batería y es el mismo Hendrix quien toca el bajo ya que no le gustaba la forma en que la interpretaba Noel Redding, el otro mienbro del trio, quien al poco tiempo fue reemplazado por Billy Cox.
Tal vez no sea de los mejores creadores de melodías del mundo pero, nada fue igual después de él.
